Broadway green alliance virtual 5k fundraiser
June 5 - June 8, 2021 | Any time, anywhere, any way
Engage with the green theatre community this summer and help raise funds to support the BGA! This Virtual 5k Fundraiser will take place from National Trails Day (June 5) through National Ocean Day (June 8) and can be completed anywhere, anytime, and any way that is accessible to you.
HELP US REACH OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL: $15,000
There are a few ways you can help us reach our goal! Whether you sign up as a fundraiser and pledge to walk, run, meditate, hike, bike, swim, or stroll, nominate someone in your life to get involved, or donate to one of our fundraiser’s pages, your participation will directly support the BGA’s work advocating for a sustainable and just reopening on Broadway and at theatres across the country.
Register by the June 5th deadline to participate in the Virtual 5k Fundraiser. Questions? Email us: info@broadwaygreen.com
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is an organized event that allows participants to “run” or get active in a way that is accessible to them at their own remote location. Typically, virtual races are held as a vehicle to raise awareness and funds for organizations, charities, or other initiatives. Anyone may register to participate alone or with a group and pledge to “run” and raise money for the cause.
How can I safely participate?
Safety measures will depend on your preferred method of participation. If you are able to run, jog, or walk in a public setting, we encourage you to review and abide by the COVID-19 safety guidelines of your location to protect yourself and those around you. If you are not comfortable or able to get outside, we encourage you to get creative in a way that makes sense and is safe for you! Consider an indoor stationary bike, a dance-a-thon, or meditation. Feel free to reach out to the BGA to brainstorm ideas for participating at info@broadwaygreen.com.
Why should I join the Broadway Green Alliance Virtual 5K?
The BGA has successfully implemented significant sustainability reform at the forefront of the theatre industry since 2008. Due to the impacts of the pandemic and theatre shutdown, we lost our major funding this past year. We are keeping all of our programs running for free - available to our entire community - thanks to the generosity of donors. Your participation and all funds raised will help power the BGA's programs, including the College Green Captain program, virtual learning sessions, and reopening greener tools, keeping everything free and accessible.
I haven’t registered yet. Do I still have to register and pay for this event?
If you have not yet registered, we recommend doing so now to secure your spot before the June 5th, 2021 deadline. The registration fee for this event will be added to the fundraising total to support the work of the BGA.
*If the fee will prevent you from participating, please reach out to BGA Director, Molly Braverman, at info@broadwaygreen.com.
Are there any prizes for top fundraisers?
Yes! The first 50 people who raise $100 or more will receive sustainable swag from EcoPlum, the first five people who raise $500 or more will receive a “Grand and Green” bag from Scenery Bags, and the top fundraising individual will receive their choice of a private voice lesson with Arielle Jacobs (ALADDIN) or a package of wine and spirits from Sweet Hospitality Group.
what are the next steps after registering?
Once you register to participate, you will receive a few emails to confirm your participation, one of them including a link to claim your Classy account and customize your fundraising page. Classy is the host platform for our fundraising event; all donations will be collected there. HERE is a step-by-step guide to claiming and customizing your account post registration.
Then, it’s game on. From June 5-8, go the distance and raise those funds! The race window will close at the end of the day on June 8th, and the BGA will announce the winners in the days following.
How should I track my action?
We encourage you to get creative with tracking your progress! Whether you document your journey on social media or download a GPS tracking app, like Strava, on your phone, the most important thing will be to communicate your progress with your audience and the BGA.
