Season for Change is hosting a virtual event: Workshop: Under Pressure – Ethical Funding During a Crisis on November 10, 2020 from 9:00AM-10:00AM.
Explore the challenging questions around fundraising ethically during a pandemic.
As the financial realities of what COVID-19 has meant for artists becomes clearer, how do we negotiate the relationship between our ethics as artists and the need to fundraise? Does a time of financial hardship necessarily mean we need to compromise on our values and economic integrity?
Join Chris Garrard from Culture Unstained as we explore together the challenging questions around fundraising ethically during a pandemic. We’ll look at where the money that supports us comes from, the questions we can ask when receiving support, how to know your own ethical fundraising boundaries, and consider how we can support ourselves and each other in bolstering integrity in response to global crises, from COVID-19 to climate change.
This online session is facilitated by Michael Norton, Producer, Artist Support at Artsadmin. This event will be live captioned.
Chris Garrard is Co-director of Culture Unstained, a campaigns and research organization which aims to end fossil fuel sponsorship of culture and promote ethical funding of the arts. Chris is also a composer and has been involved in several different art activist groups, both as an organizer and performer.
