Building a Just, Green, and Thriving Economy with Anna Shipp

Athenaeum of Philadelphia is hosting a virtual event: Building a Just, Green, and Thriving Economy with Anna Shipp on November 19, 2020 from 6:00PM-7:30PM.

Informative talk with a local sustainable business executive.

No point in our lifetimes more loudly reinforces how critical small businesses are to our economy, the detrimental impacts of climate change, and the degree to which historically underrepresented communities continue to be marginalized. These circumstances create an unprecedented opportunity not just to restore our economy, but to completely rebuild it for the better. Hear from SBN’s Executive Director about why investments in localism, food systems, green energy, and resilient water infrastructure are key strategies to building a just, green, and thriving economy.

Anna Shipp has dedicated her career to social and economic equity and climate resilience. Prior to joining SBN in 2013, Anna worked with opportunity youth, empowering them through important educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities; as well as with people experiencing chronic unemployment or underemployment, providing them with the resources they needed to overcome barriers and regain financial independence. Anna has also worked with local, state, and national parks on multi-stage projects to reduce erosion from stormwater runoff, improve habitat, and enhance visitors’ experience. Anna holds a Masters of Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

Zoom information will be sent the day of the event.

Free and open to the public, registration required.
