About this Event:
Join us for a presentation by Jamie Samowitz, Co-founder and Co-director of Roots Rising. Jamie will be presenting on Roots Rising's work to empower youth and build community through food and farming. She will also be discussing Roots Rising's exciting new sustainability initiative- an urban youth farm in downtown Pittsfield! The launch of this farm will integrate Roots Rising's food justice and youth development work and provide a vibrant green oasis in the heart of the city.
Supported by a grant from the Berkshire Environmental Endowment Fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, this virtual speaker series will be open to the general public at no charge and will focus on sustainable initiatives in the region and the world. From February through June, our speaker series will present a range of experts to offer actionable methods for audience members to affect change in their households and communities. Speakers will share their experience and research on various topics within the overall focus of environmental sustainability.
