Join in on this online Zoom event by Women in Sustainability to learn more about child fashion reuse on Wednesday, August 18th from 2:30PM to 3:30PM.
About this event:
One day they fit, the next day they don't! Baby fashion from onesies to sleepers are ever changing when it comes to little ones. But where do all those clothes go? Unfortunately, most end up in the landfill with all of the other baby items too. In fact, an estimated 2.2 BILLION pounds of consumer textile waste is from ages 0 - 11, according to the EPA. This webinar takes a unique look at fast fashion from the infant to toddler stages of life and looks at ways to reuse, repurpose or create more sustainable clothing for infants and toddlers..
About the Presenters:
Casey Stock currently leads sustainability for DaVita, across its 2800+ locations in 11 countries, for 70,000 teammates – including Science Based Targets, energy, water, waste, supply chain, green building & employee engagement. In 2019, Casey also created the @begreenhacks community on Instagram to share tips on how individuals can incorporate sustainability into their day to day. Last Fall, Casey became a mom, and is striving to raise a zero waste baby.
Jen Brannen is the creator and designer of Good Weekend, a kids swimwear line with a focus on sustainability. After years designing for conventional fashion brands (and seeing the impact of fast fashion firsthand at home and overseas), Jen wanted to create an intentional brand with a lower impact on the planet and its people. She also wanted something that fit her chasing-around-a-sandy-toddler-on-the-beach lifestyle -- so Good Weekend was born.
