BGA EVENT - Flipping the Script on Climate Storytelling To Drive Change with NRDC | #GreenQuarantine

Hosts: Katy Jacobs (Entertainment Partnerships Manager), and Elizabeth Corr (Arts & Cultural Partnerships Manager), NRDC
When: Thursday, April 29th from 1pm - 2pm ET

Join us for a presentation from NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) about the importance of telling more & varied climate stories to help change our cultural narrative about climate. NRDC knows that storytelling can change the world, and we have seen the power of storytelling to address serious global issues, build social movements, and create long term impact.

Our climate challenges are daunting, but they are not too big to solve and it’s not too late. Storytellers have a vital role to play in shaping our cultural narrative about climate.  And a new narrative is necessary if we’re going to meet the challenges ahead. Entertainment stories can help us see, feel and build the future we want.

This session will offer a different perspective on entertainment futurism, and will discuss how the climate crisis and its solutions offer endless story opportunities across genres, from comedy to drama, recent history to speculative futures, and everything in between. You’ll also hear about the work of NRDC’s Rewrite the Future initiative to help turn the climate crisis around, and come away with ideas on how to integrate climate into stories that will inspire action and help us face reality. Together, we can change the climate narrative and build a better tomorrow for us, for our kids and our grandkids.
