About this Event:

UC Santa Cruz's People of Color Sustainability Collective, African American Resource and Cultural Center, Black Geographies Lab, and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies minor are proud to present an evening conversation with Kristal 'Ocean' Ambrose, recipient of the prestigious Goldman Environmental Award.

Join us May 20th from 5pm to 6:30pm PST for a screening of "Plastic Warriors" and a critical conversation with Kristal ‘Ocean’ Ambrose on the importance of youth-led, Caribbean resistance to plastic pollution. In this conversation, we will speak to the intersections of waste and race in the afterlife of slavery and colonization. Following this, we will open the Q&A session, inviting folks to ask questions about the film, Ambrose's work, and what it means to work with and inspire youth!
