This event is hosted by the LES Ecology Center in conjunction with their commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Over the last 10 years we are reminded in many ways how the Lower East Side is a waterfront community and is situated on the front lines of the impacts of rising water levels due to climate change.
Come fish and learn more about our local waterway - the East River! Help build a database of the species of the river and water quality conditions through community science angling. All are welcome, whether it's your first time fishing or you're a professional angler. Instruction, bait, and tackle will be provided. This will be catch and release fishing only. Participants under 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
If this is your first time fishing, you are encouraged to arrive as close to the starting time as possible so you don't miss important instructions for using the rod and reel.
There will be 2 consecutive sessions running from 11:30pm - 12:30pm , and 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Please note meeting location: We will meet on the promenade at this location. It is along the water near the southern end of the track. The closest park entrance is the footbridge at 6th street.
